Finolex Transforms Packaging Accuracy & Traceability with Customized Gramton GNS Solution

Company Name:
Finolex
Industry:
Manufacturing
Product:
Gramton Next Generation
Company Background:
A leading manufacturing unit in Pune dramatically improved its packaging accuracy, label consistency, and batch traceability using a fully customized Gramton GNS solution designed for high-volume production environments.
Customer Challenge
Finolex managed thousands of units daily, yet the packaging process relied heavily on manual steps. This resulted in inconsistent accuracy, incomplete traceability, and significant operator workload.
Key Challenges Identified
Manual counting caused discrepancies in the required 96 units per box.
Batch numbering consisted of 6 variables, making human errors frequent.
Packet-level and box-level labeling demanded complex alphanumeric fields.
Inconsistent QR code data caused uncertainty in downstream scanning.
Manual steps slowed production and decreased reliability.
Finolex needed a precision-driven, automated system aligned with their internal quality standards.
The Solution
Customized Gramton GNS Weighing & Labeling Automation
We engineered a tailored GNS solution built around Finolex’s operational workflow. The system automated quantity validation, label generation, and batch numbering—removing dependence on manual intervention.
Solution Highlights:
1. Automated Batch Numbering
A structured batch code generated using machine number, shift, month, date, and year. Updates at every shift or date change, ensuring full traceability.
2. Intelligent Packet Verification
Required weight per packet: 35–40 gm
Required units per packet: 32 units The system validates each packet and blocks printing until accuracy is achieved.
3. Automatic Box-Level Labeling
After placing 3 validated packets (96 units) inside the box, the system prints a standardized label including:
Item code (20-digit alphanumeric)
Size code (10-digit alphanumeric)
Item description (50 characters)
Manufacturing month & year
Batch number
MRP
QR code with complete product data
4. Operator-Friendly Interface
Operators only select:
Machine number
Shift
Item code All other fields populate automatically, minimizing training and error risk.
5. Verified QR & Barcode Accuracy
The system validates QR and barcode content before printing, eliminating uncertainty and strengthening downstream scanning reliability.
Measurable Impact
The GNS solution delivered significant operational improvements for Finolex:
80% Reduction in Quantity Errors
Automated precision weighing prevented under-filled and over-filled packets.
40% Increase in Packing Throughput
Automated label generation accelerated workflows across shifts.
100% Batch Traceability
Auto-generated batch numbers ensured accuracy across all production cycles.
Zero Labeling Inconsistencies
Every packet and box now carries system-generated, uniform labels.
Lower Operator Workload
Manual inputs reduced to 3 essential fields, minimizing training effort.
Strengthened QC & Audit Confidence
Verified QR and barcode data enhanced traceability and compliance.
